Where Our
Story Begins
Sherlock was built from experience, not theory.
Founder Hilton Mutariswa began his career as a mental health nurse and saw a clear pattern. Too many young people were being supported in environments that only addressed part of their needs. In care, they felt safe but disengaged from education. In education, they were present but not fully supported.
Sherlock was created to close that gap, bringing care, education and support together in a way that works for the young person, not the system.

Why Sherlock Exists.
Support for young people is too often fragmented, with different services working in isolation and no clear thread between them. Sherlock was created to bring that structure and continuity together, ensuring support is aligned, consistent and built around long-term progress.
Through Sherlock Children’s Homes, young people aged 8 to 17 are provided with stable, carefully matched environments where relationships and trust can develop. Alongside this, Sherlock Pathways offers a structured Alternative Provision for primary and secondary-aged young people, combining education, therapeutic input and practical engagement through personalised pathways.
Both are designed to work together, forming a more coordinated approach where support is connected and progress can be sustained.

Therapeutic, relationship-led care for young people aged 8 to 17, with carefully matched placements to build stability and trust.

Elementary,
My Dear Watson.
Our approach is both therapeutic and structured, grounded in the understanding that behaviour is communication.
We work in a trauma-informed way, focusing on building trust, safety and consistency, supported by experienced staff and clinical input. Alongside this, we maintain clear expectations and boundaries.
By understanding what sits behind behaviour and reinforcing positive choices, we help young people develop coping strategies, reduce risk and build stronger, more consistent progress over time.

The Next Chapter.
Sherlock is building more than individual services. It is developing a connected ecosystem around each young person, with future plans including supported accommodation, expanded mental health provision and technology that enables earlier intervention and a deeper understanding of need.
This is driven by a clear mission: to deliver integrated care, education and support that helps young people move from instability toward independence, confidence and long-term outcomes.
"It has long been an axiom of mine that the little things are infinitely the most important."
